GRC Seeking Hosts for 2022 Regional Meetings

INVITATION TO HOST 2022 REGIONAL MEETINGS

Global Research Council (GRC) participant organisations are invited to submit bids to host Regional Meetings of the Global Research Council between October-December 2022.  Regional Meetings are anticipated in:

  • Americas
  • Asia Pacific
  • Europe
  • Middle East/North Africa
  • Sub-Saharan Africa

For each Regional Meeting, it is anticipated that there will be a host Research Council and a co-host Research Council.

Interested organisations are invited to contact the Executive Secretariat at GRC@ukri.org for further details. Bids should be submitted to grc@ukri.org  by no later than 4 February 2022.

The GRC Governing Board will consider all bids and announce the hosts of the 2022 Regional Meetings at the GRC’s 10th Annual Meeting in May 2022. The GRC Executive Support Group will assist all hosts in planning for the Regional Meetings.

Successful bids will be subject to the additional understandings:

  • The co-hosts of the GRC Regional Meetings should be selected to reflect, over the years, the diversity of research councils in the region.
  • The co-hosts of the GRC Regional Meetings should be active participants in the past GRC Regional Meetings.
  • Co-hosts are also expected to cover the full local costs associated with hosting and arranging the Regional Meeting.
  • It is expected that participants will cover their own costs to attend the Regional Meeting.

Successful co-hosting organisations for each Regional Meeting will also be asked to nominate one individual to serve on the 2022-2023 GRC International Steering Committee that will be charged with coordinating the hosting of the Regional Meetings and supporting the development of the agendas for the GRC Regional Meetings and the 11th Annual Meeting.

As per the Foundational Document, the Regional Meetings should be held between October and early December of that year and should be coordinated so that they all occur on different dates.
