

Dr. Amos Nungu is the Director General of Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) since March 2018. Prior to joining COSTECH, he served as a an Assistant Director (Research and Development) at the Ministry of Education, Scinece and Technology in Tanzania.
As Director General of COSTECH, Dr. Nungu has been instrumental in spearheading initiatives to bridge the gap between scientific research and industrial application. Under his leadership, COSTECH has launched several programs to support startups, and foster public–private partnerships that drive technological advancement and economic growth.
Dr. Nungu is a distinguished Tanzanian scientist, academic, and a leader with over two decades of experience in higher education, research, and innovation policy. He served (continues serving) in various boards and committees locally and internationally.
He holds a Ph.D. and MSc. in Telecommunications Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden. Prior to that, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Dr. Nungu began his professional career as a lecturer and researcher at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), where he held various academic and administrative positions. He is widely recognized for his work in promoting digital inclusion, innovation, and the application of ICT for development in Tanzania and across Africa.
