Agus Haryono was born in Pamakasan, Indonesia in 1969. He graduated from Waseda University, Japan with a Doctoral Degree in Applied Chemistry in 1999. He continued his research activiites as a post-doctoral researcher at Advanced Science and Technology (AIST) Tsukuba, Japan (1999-2002) and Vienna Institute of Technology, Austria (2005-2006). Agus has already published more than 100 journals, patents and publications focused on the field of polymer chemistry. Last year he received a research fellowship on macromolecular chemistry from the the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Currently he holds the position of Deputy Chairman for Research and Innovation Facilitation of BRIN. Under his deputyship, he manages the Indonesian Scientific Authority as well as managing all of the funding schemes for Indonesian researchers. He was challenged to provided new bilateral matching funds for joint research collaboration, in order to strengthen the global research network between Indonesian researchers and their foreign partners.
